Historians call for new probe into alleged rape at University of Texas

UT-Austin police said Monday they’ve launched an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault at the University of Virginia.

The Austin American-Statesman reports the UT Police Department says it’s investigating a complaint from a female student, who said she was raped on campus in late March.

The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, said the alleged incident occurred at a fraternity house party on campus, but police said there was no physical evidence linking her to the crime.

She’s also seeking unspecified damages.

UT President Gregory Fenves said in a statement that the university will conduct a full review of the incident.
